If you are expecting a baby and have started thinking about newborn photographs, this is a good time to
plan them. Your due date gives you a useful starting point, even though babies rarely work to a diary.
At Everleaf Photography, you can reserve your newborn session during pregnancy using your due date
as a guide. You can still book after your baby arrives, but choosing earlier gives you the best chance of
finding a date that suits your family.
THE SHORT ANSWER
If you are in your second trimester, this is your cue to book your newborn photography session.
It gives you time to plan the photographs you want and gives you the best chance of securing a date
that suits your family.
We deliberately limit the number of newborn bookings we accept each month. This allows us to remain flexible when babies arrive earlier or later than expected, but it also means that last-minute availability can be limited.
WHY BOOK BEFORE YOUR BABY ARRIVES?
The first days after birth can be wonderfully full. You are getting to know your baby, recovering, adjusting to new routines and often operating on very little sleep.
Arranging your photography in advance removes one more decision from that period. You can explore the session, choose the experience that feels right and reserve your place while you have time to think.
Booking early is especially helpful if you have a preferred period, need to plan around a partner’s availability or would like siblings and other family members to be included.
WHY ARE NEWBORN PLACES LIMITED?
A newborn diary needs room to move. Babies may arrive before or after their due date, and we want
families to feel supported rather than locked into a date that no longer makes sense.
By limiting the number of newborn sessions we take each month, we can build that flexibility into the diary. The trade-off is that it can be harder to find a suitable space if you leave booking until the last minute.
HOW EVERLEAF’S FLEXIBLE BOOKING WORKS
Start by choosing a provisional newborn session date around your due date.
Approximately one week before that session is due to take place, if your baby has not yet arrived, you can update the date yourself through our website. You do not need to worry that the original booking will suddenly become unsuitable simply because your baby has other plans.
This gives you the reassurance of having a session reserved while keeping the flexibility that real
family life requires.
WHAT IF MY BABY ARRIVES EARLY OR LATE?
Early and late arrivals are both completely normal parts of newborn photography planning.
Your provisional date is a sensible starting point, not a deadline for you or your baby.
If your circumstances change or you are unsure what date will now work best, please contact us.
We will help you work out the most suitable next step.
WHEN IS THE BEST TIME FOR A NEWBORN SESSION?
We photograph newborn babies up to six weeks old. Around two weeks old is often a lovely time for a session, but the best time is when both mum and baby feel comfortable.
We also recommend waiting until your baby’s umbilical cord has fallen away naturally before the session.
If you need a little more time, there is no pressure. Your comfort and your baby’s comfort matter
more than reaching an exact day.
WHAT IF MY BABY IS ALREADY HERE?
Please still enquire. Depending on current availability, it may still be possible to arrange a newborn session.
You have not automatically missed your opportunity because you did not book during pregnancy.
We will always give you an honest answer about the spaces available and the most suitable session
for your baby’s stage.
